Gammon is an incredibly versatile cut of meat, from being the centre-piece on a Christmas ‘spread’ eating with the snow falling outside, to being cooked and eaten with salads and picnics during the summer.

While the older generation continues to enjoy the versatility of gammon, it is evident that there is a decline in young families cooking gammon-based meals. There’s often a misconception that gammon can only be served with a fried egg or pineapple slice and chips, but in reality the delicious, cost-effective meat can be served with a range of flavoursome sauces and sides.

It is important that we begin to shift these attitudes and encourage more people to cook with gammon - after all, it can be included within a range of dishes such as soups, casseroles, warm salads and pies.

As a result, AHDB Pork is rolling out a range of tasty gammon and bacon recipes; the new recipes, developed in conjunction with, are intended to inspire the nation to cook with gammon and will demonstrate just how easy it is.
