Strategic Farm – David Goodier
The AHDB Pork pilot Strategic Farm aims to help improve physical and financial performance on units through knowledge exchange between producers.
An industry-led project, it offers the opportunity for farmers, vets and industry experts to discuss challenges facing the pig industry through open discussions and tours of commercial units.
David Goodier runs a 230-sow unit near Blackpool, Lancashire. Since the project started in June 2016, open meetings have included a tour of the unit, discussions about key performance indicators, breeding, the distribution of water and practical considerations to reduce pre-weaning mortality.

The AHDB Pork Strategic Farm team is keen to hear new ideas and learn from the industry to make this project a true knowledge sharing initiative which can benefit the entire sector.
The next open meeting is planned for 15 January 2018.
