Collection and Communication of Inspection Results (CCIR)
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is legally required to provide information to producers, regarding their findings at anti-mortem and post-mortem at the abattoir. This data is based on what the Official Veterinary and the Meat Inspectors observe while inspecting each live animal prior to slaughter and the carcass on the line.
Evidence AHDB Pork gained during their work under the British Pig Health Scheme (BPHS) found that CCIR was accurate for the national herd but not necessarily for each batch of pigs presented for slaughter.
AHDB Pork and industry continue to challenge, and work with, the FSA and their meat inspectors to improve the accuracy of CCIR, and has several work streams in place to improve the system.
